As a climate activist, Alice Wanjiru has an ambitious vision to plant at least 10 million trees by 2027. Wanjiru’s plan is to ensure that she contributes heavily in the ongoing campaign by the government to plant at least 10 billion trees in ten years. Her inspiration to achieve this vision is inspired by the understanding that over 55 million children in the world have been affected negatively by the negative effects brought about by the climate change.
At the age of nine, Alice Wanjiru has set out her vision clearly — she wants to contribute positively to the climate change agenda. She has planted at least 5,000 trees in two years and wants to plant 10 million others in the next five years. She lets us in on her journey to become a climate change activist
Kenya celebrated a special public holiday on November 13, 2023, dedicated to a nationwide tree-planting initiative as part of the National Tree Planting Campaign under the Presidential Program for the Accelerated Restoration of Forests and Range lands, which aims to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.
